SERIOUS FELONIES
As a former Assistant District Attorney, I tried five first-degree murder cases, including one capital case, and prosecuted eight additional homicide cases. I assisted in screening potential capital cases with other senior prosecutors and helped to review potential vehicular homicide cases as a member of the motor vehicle traffic fatality unit. Additionally, I prosecuted robbery cases and burglary cases as a violent felonies prosecutor and served as lead arson case screener.
Serious felony cases often involve expert witnesses. I have worked with experts in many areas, including DNA, fingerprints, drug chemistry, ballistics, serology, forensic pathology, and forensic psychiatry. In September 2014 and in August 2015, I delivered a presentation on intellectual disability and the death penalty to other prosecutors at the NC Conference of District Attorneys' Capital Litigation Conference. Therefore, I will use my experience to help clients charged with serious felony offenses.
